In trail ruins. Brush the suspicious gravel. Rare gravel has an 8.3% chance to hold a Wayfinder template, and you can't tell rare gravel apart, so brush all of it.

Put it in a crafting table with 7 diamonds and terracotta. You get 2 Wayfinder templates back, so each craft adds one.

4, one for each armor piece. Find one and dupe it 3 times, which costs 21 diamonds and 3 terracotta.

At a smithing table. Put the Wayfinder template in the first slot, the armor in the second and a trim material like gold or diamond in the third. The template is used up.
