In Minecraft, 1 block in the Nether equals 8 blocks in the Overworld (for X and Z). This calculator automatically divides your Overworld X and Z by 8 to give you the correct Nether coordinates.
To go from Nether to Overworld, X and Z are multiplied by 8. Just enter your Nether coordinates and the calculator will output the exact Overworld position.
Yes. The 1:8 scaling rule between the Overworld and Nether is the same in Minecraft Java and Bedrock, so the calculator works for both editions.
Portals can still link weirdly if there’s another portal nearby or if you’re off by a few blocks. Ensure you build within 3 blocks of the target coordinates and remove unwanted nearby portals.
A block coordinate is the exact position of a single block in the world. Minecraft groups blocks into 16x16 chunks, so a chunk coordinate is the block coordinate divided by 16 (rounded down). Chunks are then grouped into 32x32 region files, so a region coordinate is the chunk coordinate divided by 32 (rounded down). The Chunks & regions calculator converts between all three for you.
Each region of your world is saved as a file named r.X.Z.mca, where X and Z are the region coordinates. For example, a block at X 500, Z -300 sits in region 0, -1, so it is stored in r.0.-1.mca. The Chunks & regions calculator shows you this file name so you can find the exact file on your server or in your save folder.
Use Chunks & regions when you work with world files directly, like deleting a broken region, pre-generating chunks or using tools like MCA Selector. Overworld & Nether is for everyday travel between the Nether and the Overworld.
On Java, press F3 and read the XYZ line on the left. On Bedrock, turn on Show Coordinates in your world settings and they appear in the top left corner. Type those numbers into the calculator.
