Type the server's IP above and press Check. You see the server the way your multiplayer list shows it, with its icon, MOTD and player count, or "Can't connect to server" if it didn't answer.

If it shows online here with players on, the server is up and the problem is on your side. Check the exact IP, your game version and your internet. If you can't join any server at all, Minecraft's login servers may be having trouble.

Most often it can't be reached from the internet. Check that the server is running, that you typed the right port, and that the port is forwarded on your router and open in your firewall. A server with enable-status=false in server.properties also shows as offline, even though players can still join.

Usually it's the version, so make sure everyone plays the version the server runs. Next check the whitelist. A new 26.3 server has it turned on, so add each friend with /whitelist add followed by their name.

Java servers use port 25565 by default. If yours runs on another port, add it after a colon, like play.example.com:25566. An address with an SRV record doesn't need the port, because Minecraft looks it up for you.

No, it checks Java Edition servers only. Bedrock servers answer on a different port, 19132, and in a different way, so they show as offline here.

Ping is the time it takes to reach the server from your computer. The check runs from a status service, not from your computer, so its number wouldn't match yours. Add the server in Minecraft to see your own ping.

The address goes to WiseHosting's status service, which asks the server. A second request goes to mcstatus.io, which looks up the version the server reports, so mcstatus.io sees the address and your IP address too. The address is also put in the page link, so a shared link runs the same check when it is opened. See our privacy policy.

Every check asks the server right then and nothing is cached. You can restart your server and check again straight away.
