With Minecraft 1.20 - Trails and Tales update, we were introduced a new cool way to customize your Minecraft armor. In this quick guide you can find examples of all the Smithing Template's and where to find these in the game. Also the crafting recipes for armor trim duplication and armor examples!
How to apply Armor Trims in Minecraft?
To apply any of the Armor Trims to your freshly crafted armor you'll need to have a Smithing Table first! Insert your armor trim, armor piece next to it and then the material for coloring.
Different colored materials that you can use are:
- Iron ingot
- Copper ingot
- Gold ingot
- Lapis lazuli
- Emerald
- Diamond
- Netherite ingot
- Redstone dust
- Amethyst shard
- Nether Quartz
- Resin brick

1) Sentry Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Pillager Outpost chest with 5% chance.
2) Vex Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Woodland Mansion chest with 50% chance.
3) Wild Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Jungle Temple chest with 33.3% chance.
4) Coast Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Shipwreck with 16.7% chance.
5) Dune Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Desert Temple chest with 14.3% chance.
6) Wayfinder Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Trail ruins Suspicious gravel with 8.3% chance.
7) Raiser Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Trail ruins Suspicious gravel with 8.3% chance.
8) Shaper Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Trail ruins Suspicious gravel with 8.3% chance.
9) Host Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Trail ruins Suspicious gravel with 8.3% chance.
10) Ward Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Ancient City chest with 5% chance.
11) Silence Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Ancient City chest with 1.2% chance.
12) Tide Armor Trim Template
- It can be obtained by killing Elder guardians in Ocean Monument with 20% chance.
13) Snout Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Bastion remnant chest with 8.3% chance.
14) Rib Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Nether Fortress chest with 6.7% chance.
15) Eye Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Stronghold Library chest with 100% chance.
16) Spire Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in End City chest with 6.7% chance.
17) Bolt Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Trial Chambers standard vaults and chests with 6.3% chance.
18) Flow Armor Trim Template
- It can be found in Trial Chambers ominous vaults with 22.5% chance.
